The most common question about spaying or neutering your dog is, “At what age should I have it done?” It’s a difficult question to answer, but one that’s worth considering. The good news is that there’s no set age for female Doberman Pinschers. However, spaying a female Doberman Pinscher prior to her first heat could increase the risk of mammary tumours in your dog.
Neutering
If you’re unsure about the age for neutering your dog, check with your vet. While many breeders recommend spaying your pet at about four months of age, the actual age can differ. The best time for neutering a female Doberman Pinscher is when she is around two or three years old. A spayed female is not likely to suffer from UI or any other reproductive disorder, and neutered males do not show any increased risk for cancer or joint disorders.
Age ranges
While there are many different age ranges for spaying your dog, the age you select will depend on your specific circumstances. Some animals are considered too young for neutering, while others are too old. Some people opt for surgery over the natural process. Some dogs may be too young, while others should wait until they are eighteen or nine months old.
