If you’re in the mood for a little wilderness adventure, Georgia has some incredible places to explore. From beaches that are littered with driftwood to the Arabia Mountain, which is about 30 miles from Atlanta, Georgia has many options for adventure. Whether you enjoy hiking, biking, paddling, rafting, or just hanging out by the water, Georgia has it all. Here are just a few ideas for your next outdoor adventure:

Providence Canyon is one of Georgia’s seven natural wonders. Located in Lumpkin, Georgia, it covers 30,000 acres of wetlands. It is also home to the Okefenokee Swamp, a 630 square mile freshwater swamp. Hikers can explore the canyon’s roaring falls on a nature trail. The hike is only a short walk from camp and will reward them with breathtaking views of the gorge.

The state’s forests have been used for filming in Georgia. Several movies, including The Hunger Games series and A Walk in the Woods, were filmed in Georgia. Sweetwater Creek State Park was used for filming of Mockingjay. The Red Trail to the New Manchester Manufacturing Mill is where Katniss and Gale meet onscreen. Likewise, Amicalola Falls State Park has the Springer Mountain Approach Trail, which was used by Robert Redford in The Hunger Games movies.

If you’re looking for an extreme challenge, Georgia has many places where you can go on a hiking or biking trip. Springer Mountain is the starting point for the Appalachian Trail. The tallest waterfall in the state is Amicalola Falls. The Tallulah Gorge, the Grand Canyon of the East, is two miles long. Afterward, you can hike or bike the BeltLine, a 22-mile loop of former railroad corridors.
