E-commerce has revolutionized the way we shop today and has become a massive threat to traditional stores nowadays. For instance, Amazon launched as an online bookstore and started its mobile site in 2001. 

    Starting out the same year as Amazon (1995), eBay has enabled online purchases and is particularly popular for inputting online auctions. These two online shopping giants were those who helped Zappos and Victoria’s Secret enter the e-commerce field in 1999. 

    PayPal, in 1998, enabled global online commerce by doing the payment process for e-sellers, commercial users, and auction sites. In 24 different currencies, the client can hold money and send and receive it. 

    In 2004, more safety for online transactions was applied when the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. They asked a council to make sure that businesses consent to the safety conditions. These are the security standards for the data protection of an account that is implemented.

    These online portals are virtual places where clients shop what entrepreneurs sell and what marketers promote. They have majorly eased the shopping session of customers, who now have a wide variety of choices, giving them the opportunity to compare and make a purchase. 

    • M-commerce

    No online shop can get by without a mobile version of the e-commerce website or app. Mobile devices are with people during the entire day, unlike PCs, which are harder to carry themselves. According to some surveys made in 2008, 62% of people have bought their product online from their mobile device and not a PC. Mobile commerce increases sales vastly and contributes to fast e-commerce development. 

    • Digital Marketing 

    Digital marketing has helped companies to communicate directly with clients by rotating on places or apps where people spend time. Besides targeting a wider audience, digital marketing has enabled commences to master client-drawn marketing and supplying through their survey data. Also, online marketing has helped commerce to gain the adaptability to make fast changes in the promotion to become more client-specific. 

    The younger generation, who always carry their mobile devices with them, is what shows online behavior. 89% of those surveyed think that info about the fact whether the product is available or not in the store impacts their choices on which store to go to and make a purchase. 

    The Future of E-commerce

    Machine learning may be used to predict when to manage stocks and refuel them. 24/7 assistance can be given to the client by implementing website chatbots. 

    Offering more significant outcomes to clients on given info and buying patterns is what AI can contribute to e-commerce. AI can give a helpful analysis of surveys about customers, which can help businesses to improve their customer service. To have more personalized customer insights, AI digital transformation can provide much more precise info on buyers’ profiles.

    Perhaps the most important advantage of e-commerce is the fact that it helps people to save the time spent on hitting the different stores and helps them to find the exact product they want. No doubt, new and exciting e-commerce shopping experiences lie ahead of us.
