Since the outbreak of COVID-19, organizations have shown resilience by adapting to the changes brought about by the pandemic. Due to the increasing number of employees working in hybrid and remote environments, HR leaders have become more important than ever to ensure that their teams are engaged and satisfied.

HR leaders have to figure out how to create a culture that enables employees to feel supported and connected no matter where they are located. To help companies successfully transition to virtual workplaces, below are five HR trends that are helping them create a culture that will allow employees to feel valued and connected.

    1. Increase in Automation

Automation plays a vital role in the HR department and how it can help alleviate the pain that HR professionals feel. Today, organizations are more inclined to speed up their operations and adopt new technology.

The HR processes need to be agile and consistent to keep up with the changes brought about by the business. This is why they must be able to adapt quickly to new opportunities.

    2. Increase in Use of People Analytics

With the rise of AI and employee engagement tools, organizations are sitting on a treasure chest of data. Unfortunately, without the proper tools and resources to analyze and interpret this data, it’s useless.

People analytics is a type of data that helps managers and HR professionals identify areas of their operations where they can improve. It can also help employees improve their performance by giving them the necessary tools and resources to manage their work.

    3. Creation of Better Employee Experiences

Employers need to consider creating an exceptional employee experience to ensure that their employees are satisfied with their work. Even the largest organizations recognize the importance of taking the time to care for their employees.

To create a more effective and personalized employee experience, Microsoft conducted a study comparing the experiences of different employees with Google and Apple. They then created personas that were designed to help employees improve their performance.

The company then formulated its 5Ps of employee fulfillment, which are designed to guide organizations on how to provide a sense of belonging to their employees. According to studies, this type of connection can help boost employee performance and reduce turnover.

HR is also working with their organizations to ensure employees are awarded for their accomplishments. This can be done in the form of bonuses, paid time off, and employee of the month plaques.

    4. Remote Workplace Transition

The rise of hybrid and remote workplaces has drastically changed the expectations of employees. According to a survey, over 60% of employees consider flexible work options as one of the factors that they consider when it comes to deciding if they want to work for a company. Due to the increasing number of studies showing how important it is to provide flexible work options, many companies are now recognizing the importance of this benefit.

Remote work also promotes gender equality as it allows women to work more efficiently. In 2021, the participation rate of female labor force members in the U.S. dropped to its lowest level in 33 years. To attract and retain the best talent, HR must find a way to accommodate both hybrid and remote work options. This can be done through the development of positive company culture and technology.

    5. Improved Candidate Experiences

While conducting an interview or talking to a candidate, HR professionals should keep in mind that they are also customers. A study revealed that almost half of the candidates did not receive a response from their employers, which can lead to a dip in their likeability.

One solution is to use the latest technology, which is known as natural language processing. This type of system can help improve the experience of candidates by allowing them to speak directly to HR professionals. Some companies are already using this method to send out promotional emails.

    Final Thoughts

The new year is approaching, and we already see various technological advancements. As an HR professional, you must be ready to anticipate these changes and take advantage of the opportunities that they can provide. It’s time to embrace the shift happening and enhance the employee experience.
