Parents who use the best mineral sunscreen for kids get the peace of mind of knowing that their skin is getting the most effective protection that money can buy. However, if you want the product to offer the maximum amount of protection possible, you need to ensure that it’s properly stored – otherwise, it might degrade before its best-before date.

Typically speaking, a good-quality product like this should last for as long as three years before it needs to be replaced. In this article, we look at how to store your physical sunscreen.

Signs That the Best Mineral Sunscreen For Kids Has Expired

It’s often very noticeable when the best mineral sunscreen for kids has seen better days, however, it’s not always super-clear. As such, you need to keep an eye out for the following signs that the physical sunscreen you’re about to use on your kids is no longer safe to use.

    Those signs include:

    • The sunscreen has become separated (although a shake may remedy the problem)
    • The expiry date on the packaging is in the past (the most obvious sign)
    • The consistency has changed (become more runny or thick)
    • The product has become discolored

Using mineral sunscreen that’s gone past its use-by-date won’t hurt your child’s skin, however, it’s not guaranteed to offer the same protection that an in-date product will provide. That’s what we mean when it’s unsafe to use.

The Best Way to Store Your Mineral Sunscreen

As we said, mineral sunscreens are designed to last for up to three years, so if you want yours to last that long, you should ensure that it’s always kept in a cool, dark place. That applies when you take your sunscreen out with you – by which we mean keeping it in your bag and not in direct sunlight.

Brands like Blue Lizard make this job easier, as the top of their bottles changes color when it becomes exposed to ultraviolet light from the sun. When it changes color, you know that it’s time to put it away – not before you apply it to your skin, of course.

Another way to ensure your sunscreen isn’t affected by excessive heat is to put the product on your kids before they go out – which is usually the best option anyway. That said, mineral sunscreen will last longer in the sun when compared to chemical brands, as they’re much more photostable. This means they don’t change their molecular structure when exposed.

Making Sure the Best Mineral Sunscreen For Kids Stays Effective

In all honesty, putting out-of-date sunscreen is most often better than not using anything at all. Sure, it may not give funnyjok you the full two hours of protection, but it’s got to be a superior option than leaving your child’s skin completely exposed to the sun.

Hopefully, though, you’ll never find yourself in this situation, particularly if you follow the tips as we’ve described them here. Keep your sunscreen out of the sun and in a cool place, and you’ll get the full three-year lifespan, during which you’ll know your thestyleplus kids are safe when playing in the sun.

It doesn’t take much to ensure this happens – rather, just being mindful of where you put your sunscreen. Do that, and you won’t have any problems at all.
