How The FIFA 23 Road to the Final Cards Are Upgraded

The upgrade rules only take into consideration the performance of the team. This means that the player doesn’t need to specifically take part in any games. All “win first game” boosts are based on the first match the club takes part in after the card goes live. If a card is released after the first knockout game of the team, the “win first game” upgrade will depend on the result of the next knockout game. This happens even if penalties and extra time are applied. In case the first game of a Road to the Final card is the second part of the Round of 16 and the team wins the game and therefore qualifies for the next round, the card gets a double upgrade.
