Do Grounding Mats Provide Real Health Benefits?

The Earth is like a battery, and you’re a battery too. At least, that is what the advocates of grounding say. This idea isn’t just a metaphor; it’s an actual scientific fact. When you connect to the Earth directly, you tap into all of the natural rhythmic pulsations flowing through the Earth’s surface. So you’re recharging yourself with a supply of free electrons flowing from the Earth to your body when you establish physical contact with the ground.

    Where Can You Perform Grounding?

Grounding can be done two ways. Grounding products are different in both cases.

Outdoors With the Soil And Water:

Establishing contact with Earth can be best done when you go out in nature. Be it a park, garden, lake or an empty field, the best way to go about grounding is by following the conventional idea of grounding. People belonging to tier 2 and tier 3 cities and villages should find it easy considering their lifestyle.

    Indoors With the Grounding Products:

You read that right. To help the people living in industrial areas with advanced infrastructure gain access to grounding, NeatEarthing and similar companies have devised several grounding products. These include Grounding mats, blankets, sleeping pads, gloves and grounding socks. From the convenience of your apartment, you can gain the benefits of earthing by using any of the grounding products. Mats, among all others, are the most popular. They are almost like yoga mats but upgraded.

Do Grounding Mats Provide Real Health Benefits?

Grounding is done by walking barefoot on the ground or in sand or sleeping on sheets with unique conductive technologies.

The health benefits of grounding include increased energy levels, decreased inflammation and pain, better sleep quality, and better cognitive function. Some evidence is that grounding yourself can help you recover faster from exercise.

To talk about the scientific aspect to all of this: A study in 2011 by Gaétan Chevalier, PhD and Stephen after observing 27 participants, who participated in artificial grounding methods for 40 minutes, found that the participants had improvements in heart rate variability (HRV) after grounding, which translated to a slower heart rate and reduced anxiety and stress. This made the authors conclude that “grounding appeared to be one of the simplest and yet most profound interventions for helping reduce cardiovascular risk and events.”

Just like when you’re outside when you step on a grounding mat and connect with its electrons, it helps balance out your body’s electromagnetic field and bring it back into harmony. It also has been shown to help reduce your stress levels and improve your sleep.

    Conclusion

So should you try grounding? Reports have not spoken of any side effects of grounding or earthing. Grounding products, although, are subjective for who the person is in concern. Suppose you do not have access to the ground and wish to try earthing yourself; a grounding product, whether a mat or a sleeping pad, would be a good choice. There are proven benefits of grounding yourself. There’s no harm in giving it a try for yourself and seeing what happens—and if you do, let us know how it goes! You may benefit by practising grounding.
